NHL Injury Update: Ottawa Senators veteran forward David Perron set to miss 5-7 weeks due to a major surgery
As the Ottawa Senators have been in the news due to the Linus Ullmark controversy, the club has faced another similar setback this week. Ottawa Senators veteran forward David Perron will reportedly be out of the league for at least 5-7 weeks, as the sportsperson is set to undergo major surgery. As per reports, the surgery is necessary for a sports hernia.
This was reported on Thursday by Julian McKenzie of The Athletic. Head coach Travis Green said Thursday that Perron's injury has been bothering him for a while, and the 37-year-old will undergo a procedure ahead of the Olympic break.
Perron has been an important player for the Senators and is known for his performance and dedication on the ice. Reports suggest that the 37-year-old has played in the team’s 4-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, registering 12:33 of ice time. He’s appeared in 49 games this season, his second with the Senators, recording 10 goals and 15 assists.

A native of Sherbrooke, Que., Perron is in his 19th NHL season after originally being taken with the 25th selection of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft out of the QMJHL’s Lewiston Maineiacs.
He’s appeared in 1,223 contests for the Sens, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Edmonton Oilers. He has 329 goals and 809 points. Perron won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019 and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career the following season.
While he probably be facing a lengthy recovery process, it is expected that Perron could be ready to return around when the Senators resume play in late February.
