Max Domi leads Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime to 4-3 win against Winnipeg Jets
The Toronto Maple Leafs would go on to produce one of the most dramatic come-from-behind victories, stunning the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in overtime at Canada Life Centre on Saturday. The Leafs were down by two goals in the early minutes of the third period but turned the tables around with a never-say-die attack that culminated in Max Domi's heroics in overtime.
Domi finished off the comeback just 3:08 into extra time, as he capped off a beautiful 2-on-1 break with Auston Matthews to shut up the Winnipeg crowd. This dramatic victory secures two key points for Toronto, as the Maple Leafs are showing no signs of slowing down, as they are one of the league’s deadliest clubs when facing adversity late in games.
However, the Maple Leafs were not ready to roll over. The spark to light the fire was lit by veteran defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson with a precisely fired puck from the left circle to bring the deficit to one. However, the turning point was fully shifted in Toronto’s favor a few minutes later when Bobby McMann redirected a shot from the point through traffic to equalize. Winnipeg forward Jonathan Toews hit the post with 1:51 remaining in the third.
Ekman-Larsson made it 3-2 at 5:58 of the third period, taking a cross-ice pass from Nicholas Robertson. He buried a snapshot on the far side of the left face-off circle.
“We found a way to regroup,” said Domi, who also had an assist. “I think that just shows the character in this locker room. We stuck together and played for each other, and then you saw that; that's how good teams find ways to win. You’ve got to give credit to Winnipeg; they played a great game tonight. But we found a way to stick with them and get the huge two points we needed.”
Toronto, meanwhile, has recorded another comeback victory, adding to its impressive list of comebacks already this season. With 12 of their last 13 games resulting in points, the Leafs are gaining momentum, confidence, and belief—attributes that are key for champions, teams that typically experience success in the NHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs successfully overpowered Winnipeg Jets in third period
The Winnipeg Jets seemed to be in control of the game throughout, using hard hockey and net pressure to sting Toronto. They scored the first goal of the game midway through, building a 2-0 lead with what appeared to be a combination of sound opportunism and a lot of unscreened shots on goal. While Toronto promptly answered with a goal from Matthews to cut the deficit to a single goal, the Jets extended their lead to two early in the third. However, the Maple Leafs were not ready to roll over.
