Bo Nix dazzled fans with a masterful performance in the AFC divisional playoff, only to leave the field with a heartbreaking injury that will sideline him for the rest of the postseason. The Denver Broncos edged the Buffalo Bills 33-30 in overtime, but Nix’s fractured right ankle stole the spotlight. Head coach Sean Payton confirmed the devastating news in his postgame press conference, revealing that Nix will undergo surgery Tuesday and miss the remainder of the playoffs. The injury occurred on the third-to-last play of overtime when Nix, executing a designed run, was tackled by Cole Bishop for a two-yard loss. Despite the setback, he stayed in the game long enough to set up the game-winning field goal. Nix threw an incomplete deep pass to Marvin Mims Jr., which drew a 39-yard pass interference penalty against Tre'Davious White. On the final snap, Nix kneeled, allowing Wil Lutz to drill a 23-yard field goal and secure Denver’s first playoff victory since Super Bowl 50.

Before the injury, Nix delivered a performance that showcased his poise and versatility.
He completed 26 of 46 passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, while also rushing for 29 yards on 12 carries. At just 25, Nix is already establishing himself as one of the league’s clutch quarterbacks, finishing the regular season with 25 touchdown passes, 11 interceptions, and leading the NFL in game-winning drives with seven. While Nix’s absence will be felt, the Broncos remain poised under backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who will start in the AFC Championship Game. Denver now faces the winner of the Texans-Patriots matchup, aiming for its first AFC title since 2015. Though the victory over Buffalo will be celebrated, it is impossible to overlook the bittersweet reality: Denver gained a playoff win but lost Bo Nix, the hero of the day, at the height of his breakout season.
