Detroit Red Wings NHL playoff hopes fading after Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp injury setbacks late season
The Detroit Red Wings went into the last part of the regular season of the NHL looking relatively good to eventually get back into the postseason. In the months of good performances and accumulated points in previous games of the campaign, the team appeared to be heading to a wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.
Recent outcomes and injuries have, however, made that a complicated turn. Several hard defeats and an empty roster have transformed a seemingly easy scenario into an almost survival struggle in a short time. Being in a position of trying to postpone by a few spots to play in the playoffs, each game left has become mammoth for Detroit.
Soon, another blow struck as center Andrew Copp was also injured in the lower body. The loss of two senior centers simultaneously has compelled the Red Wings coaching team to make short-term changes on the forward lines.
The absence of both players will increase the pressure on other teammates like Alex DeBrincat and J. T. Compher, since there will be less offensive power. Detroit will certainly be required to play with solid defensive organization and good goalkeeping in order to remain competitive in this rough period of the season.
Nonetheless, the Red Wings are still eager not to lose the playoff race. Younger players and depth forwards receive even more chances, and the team is engaged in the minimization of mistakes and the accrual of significant points. As the regular season is approaching its end, how Detroit can cope without Larkin and Copp will eventually decide whether they will realize their long-awaited playoff comeback.

Detroit Red Wings lose Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp during crucial NHL stretch
Injury in the depth of the center has been the greatest challenge to the Detroit Red Wings. Dylan Larkin, the team captain, had a lower-body injury, which is likely to result in several weeks of absence. Larkin has played as one of the most significant offensive drivers in Detroit, who has been the leader of the team in crucial scoring scenarios and a source of leadership on the ice.The absence of both players will increase the pressure on other teammates like Alex DeBrincat and J.
