Connor McDavid fights Justin Hryckowian as Edmonton Oilers fall 7-2 to the Dallas Stars in NHL game

It was one of the worst performances that the Edmonton Oilers had to struggle with since they were beaten by the Dallas Stars 7-2 on Thursday night. Dallas soon took control of the NHL game, and he managed to score in the first two periods on multiple occasions, and Edmonton was left running after the game for the majority of the night.

Although Edmonton was able to handle two replies during the game after the contest, the offense of the Stars was too strong. Later in the second period, the captain of the Oilers, Connor McDavid, was involved in a heated argument with a Dallas forward called Justin Hryckowian. It started with a tense situation between Edmonton superstar Leon Draisaitl, which made McDavid intervene and confront the rookie center.

McDavid caught up with Hryckowian, and both threw a couple of punches at each other as the players of the two teams crowded around. Authorities were soon involved to break them, eventually issuing penalties such as roughing minors rather than an official fight.

In the case of McDavid, a prolific and highly offensive but not physical player with a rather fast reputation, the incident and his fight illustrated the frustration that was growing on the bench of Edmonton. The captain of the Oilers had no points throughout the game, and this killed a long road scoring streak that was considered a major positive for the team over the past few weeks.

It is also a loss that created additional concerns in Edmonton because the club still struggles with inconsistency. Dallas was able to stay on the offensive throughout the match, exploiting the errors of their defense and building on it with precision in their finishing.

Despite the fact that the emotional outburst of McDavid short-term revitalized his teammates, the Oilers were not able to organize a comeback.
