NEW DELHI: Reports from Fox Sports indicate that the 33-year-old free agent is currently engaged in discussions with the Washington Commanders in a potential reunion that could see veteran tight end Zach Ertz return to the NFC East.
Ertz, a seasoned player with an impressive track record, spent the first eight-plus seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles in the same division. Following a trade to the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 15, 2021, he played under head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Interestingly, Kingsbury has recently taken on the role of offensive coordinator under Washington's head coach, Dan Quinn.
During his stint with the Cardinals in 2023, Ertz recorded 27 receptions for 187 yards and one touchdown in seven starts. Now, with talks underway for a potential move to the Washington Commanders, Ertz might find himself back in familiar territory within the NFC East.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl LII champion, Ertz boasts an impressive career stat line of 709 catches for 7,434 yards and 46 touchdowns in 151 games, including 113 starts with both the Eagles and the Cardinals.
Philadelphia drafted him in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and his potential return to the NFC East could add a seasoned and reliable presence to Washington's offensive arsenal.
