“We had a blast”: Tom Brady says filming with Ben Affleck felt like a nostalgic trip into the 90s

Tom Brady returned for yet another Dunkin' Donuts commercial for Super Bowl LX alongside Ben Affleck. Fans still remember the pair from the hilarious 2024 “DunKings” spot, which also featured Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez. This time, Dunkin went even bigger with a slew of star-studded celebrity appearances from Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Jason Alexander, Ted Danson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Jaleel White, and Jasmine Guy.

Brady seems to have loved the humorous spin on the 1997 film Good Will Hunting for the ad, turning it into a sitcom titled Good Will Dunkin. He told Men’s Health that recreating the 90s and reuniting with Affleck and Dunkin to create another entertaining spot where they didn't take themselves too seriously was why he jumped on it without any hesitation.

Brady told Men's Health, “I was excited to jump into another Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial with Ben, and we had a blast. The Dunkin’ team knows how to make something entertaining, and stepping into the whole ‘90s Dunkin’ world made it even more fun.” Brady’s role came towards the end of the ad, hilariously smiling to Affleck as he is introduced as Aniston’s new boyfriend, making it a surprise cameo.


The commercial played like a 90s TV episode, complete with familiar sitcom energy, exaggerated acting, and clever references for people who grew up watching 90s television. This aspect was what Brady loved about the new spin on the Dunkin ad. He stated, "It taps into that era when TV didn’t take itself too seriously, and pairing that with Dunkin’s history made the whole thing feel like a time capsule in the best way.”

While Damon, who featured in the 2024 Dunkin' ad, did not return, the former Patriots star still had a lot of fun with the actors who were in the new version, as he further told Men’s Health. The added humor of the whole thing was the de-aging of the actors involved and the weird look Brady had on for his '90s look.

The ad also included nods to legendary sitcoms like “Friends,” “Cheers,” “A Different World,” “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Seinfeld,” and “Family Matters.” Even the production leaned into the whole 90s feel with the costumes, hair, and heightened acting from everyone involved. Fans are already having a blast with the ad, and judging by Brady's comments, everyone in the ad did as well.
