Tom Brady reflects on Josh McDaniels's firing from Las Vegas Raiders

NEW DELHI: Tom Brady, the legendary quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recently shared his thoughts on the firing of Josh McDaniels, his former offensive coordinator, from his position as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. While Brady has never personally experienced the mid-season firing of a head coach, he understands the challenges such a change brings, and he highlighted the need for teams and players to adapt.

In an interview on the "Let's Go!" podcast, Brady spoke about the importance of adapting to changes in the NFL. He emphasized that when significant changes occur, it's crucial for the team to adjust and move forward. He compared the situation to a player leaving, a coach getting fired, or personal issues affecting players' lives, all of which require adaptability and resilience.

Brady pointed out that despite the upheaval caused by a coaching change or other disruptions, the team must remain focused on its mission and continue to compete. His message was clear: the challenges in the NFL don't disappear with changes; the team still needs to prepare and perform at its best.

He also referenced the recent firing of Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders' response—a dominant win following the coaching change. This underscores the idea that adapting and making necessary adjustments can lead to positive outcomes.

The firing of Josh McDaniels comes at a significant financial cost to the Raiders. McDaniels had initially signed a four-year, $40 million deal with the team. However, he coached for just a year and a half before his dismissal. When combined with Jon Gruden's contract, who was fired a couple of years ago, the Raiders will owe an astounding $85 million.

Brady, who is now retired from the NFL, is making moves off the field as well. Reports indicate that he is exploring the possibility of becoming a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, aiming for a 5-10% ownership stake in the franchise. While Mark Davis remains the majority owner, Brady has shown interest in expanding his involvement in the sports world. He already owns a similar stake in Mark Davis's Las Vegas Aces, who clinched their second consecutive WNBA championship in 2023.

Tom Brady's insights serve as a reminder of the ever-evolving landscape of the NFL, where adaptability and resilience are essential qualities for both players and teams. Amidst coaching changes and other disruptions, the pursuit of success on the field continues.
