Speculation around Travis Kelce’s future has grown louder after a disappointing season for the Kansas City Chiefs. The franchise finished with a rare 6-11 record and missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade, leading many fans to wonder if major changes are coming. The situation became even more uncertain after Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL late in the season. With the team’s star quarterback facing a long recovery, questions have naturally shifted toward veteran leaders like Kelce, who is now 36 and has logged years of physical wear and tear.

Tom Brady dismisses talk of Travis Kelce retirement

Tom Brady believes the veteran tight end still has plenty left to offer. Speaking recently, the seven-time Super Bowl winner praised Kelce’s play and competitiveness, dismissing the idea that age alone should dictate his next move. Brady stressed that Kelce does not need advice from anyone, calling him a “stud” and one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
According to Brady, Kelce looked strong throughout the season despite the Chiefs’ struggles. He pointed out that the tight end’s impact went beyond numbers, highlighting his leadership, football IQ and ability to perform even when the team around him was not at its best. For Brady, those qualities suggest Kelce is far from finished.
Kelce himself has not committed to any decision yet. On the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, the Chiefs star explained that he prefers to focus on recovery once a season ends. Rather than rushing into a choice, he wants to see how his body responds after rest and rehabilitation.

He described the physical toll of an NFL season as intense, admitting that his body often feels “beat down” by the time it is over. Still, he also spoke about his deep love for the game and the unique feeling that comes with pushing through pain and preparation each week. That passion, he said, has not gone away. For now, Kelce’s approach is focused on recovering first. Chiefs officials are said to be aware of where he currently stands, and there appears to be no pressure for an immediate announcement. With Mahomes expected to miss significant time during his recovery, the Chiefs face an uncertain offseason. Even so, Brady’s comments serve as a reminder that Kelce’s story may not be over just yet. Until the veteran feels confident about his health and motivation, retirement remains a question not a conclusion. Also Read: Tom Brady’s comeback plan takes shape as Rob Gronkowski reveals his true intentions
