Traditional notions of head coaching experience are giving way to a new breed of innovative and tech-savvy leaders. Here are the youngest NFL head coaches who are making waves in the 2023-24 season.



1) Zac Taylor - 40 years old (Born: May 10, 1983)
Team: Cincinnati Bengals
Zac Taylor assumed the role of head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals just three months before turning 36. Under his leadership, the Bengals reached consecutive AFC Championship Games in 2021 and 2022, winning the first and earning a Super Bowl LVI berth.
2) DeMeco Ryans - 39 years old (Born: July 28, 1984)
Team: Houston Texans
DeMeco Ryans, a former standout linebacker, took over as the head coach for the Houston Texans. His defensive expertise, honed during six seasons with the Texans as a player, has propelled the team to an 8-6 record as of Week 15.



3) Shane Steichen - 38 years old (Born: May 11, 1985)
Team: Indianapolis Colts
After an impressive stint as the Eagles' offensive coordinator, Shane Steichen is now the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Despite facing challenges like injuries, he has guided the Colts to an 8-6 record.
4) Kevin O'Connell - 38 years old (Born: May 25, 1985)
Team: Minnesota Vikings
Kevin O'Connell, former Rams offensive coordinator, now leads the Minnesota Vikings. In his first season, he secured the NFC North title with a 13-4 record and continues to guide the team in the playoff race this season.

5) Sean McVay - 37 years old (Born: January 24, 1986)
Team: Los Angeles Rams
Sean McVay, the longest-tenured among the youngest head coaches, was hired by the Los Angeles Rams at the age of 30. With two Super Bowl appearances and one victory (Super Bowl LVI), McVay has transformed the Rams into a perennial contender.
