Shannon Sharpe feared model would "edit" their tape to make him "look guilty" as he faced $50M lawsuit

Shannon Sharpe, the NFL legend, might have been one of the most talented players in the world but his involvement in a sexual assault lawsuit with an model has made a mark on his reputation around the world. While Shannon Sharpe ended up spending a whopping $20 million to settle the lawsuit, the NFL legend wanted his tape to be released.

Shannon Sharpe accused the young model of “editing” their tape

In April 2025, days after his $50 million lawsuit filed by the young model became public, Shannon Sharpe released a controversial video where he denied the sexual assault allegations and demanded for their s*x tape to be released.



Shannon Sharpe said in his video, "I believe he's (model’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee) going to release a 30-second clip of a s*x tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine…”

The NFL legend continued, “That video should actually be 10 minutes or so. Hey, Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don't have it, or I would myself."

The young model’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, hit back at Shannon Sharpe as he issued a statement.



The statement read as, “The statement from Sharpe’s newest lawyer falsely accuses Ms. Jane Doe of editing a video — a claim that is not only demonstrably false, but also desperate. The lawyer also suggests Ms. Doe refused to make the video available to Mr. Sharpe. Again, this assertion is easily proven untrue. “

At the end, the s*x tape was kept private and was not released to the public despite Shannon Sharpe’s strong demands.

Shannon Sharpe spent a whopping amount on the lawsuit filed by the model

Shannon Sharpe’s legal team released multiple statements denying the allegations as one of the statements read as, "Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of 'rape' — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail…”

The statement added, “He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously in court…”

However, at the end, Shannon Sharpe ended up paying a whopping $20 million to the young model to settle the lawsuit.
