Russell Wilson is used to getting a lot of attention on Sundays, but his latest move put the spotlight on something other than football. The quarterback of the New York Giants and his wife,
Ciara, have promised to give $2 million to improve children's healthcare in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
This adds to their growing reputation as hands-on philanthropists. Their donation will help pay for medical care and rehabilitation services for families who have trouble getting the specialized care they need.
Russell Wilson and Ciara’s new initiative targets life-saving care for vulnerable youth
The announcement, shared by the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation, signals more than a one-time gesture. It reflects the couple’s long-term commitment to improving children’s health outcomes and strengthening community support systems in a region that has held personal meaning for them for years.
“Through a generous $2 million gift from @DangeRussWilson and @ciara @WhyNotYouFdn, more children and families across #BajaCaliforniaSur will gain access to life-changing healthcare and rehabilitation services,” the foundation posted on X.
Wilson echoed the sentiment when he reshared the message, writing: “We are grateful to be able to make a difference in Mexico! Cabo has meant the world to us over the years, & with this gift, we pray many families can have more memories overcoming! #WhyNotYou @WhyNotYouFdn @ciara ❤️,” the NFL quarterback wrote in the X post.
The funding will help address seven major health priorities, including cancer care, congenital heart conditions, disabilities, mental health support, and prevention programs.By the 2025–2026 cycle, the foundation aims to reach approximately 18,000 children and adolescents annually through direct services and partnerships with nonprofits and government agencies.
This global outreach reflects the vision behind Wilson’s Why Not You Foundation, launched in 2014 to support education, children’s health, and poverty relief. Rather than offering short-term assistance, the organization focuses on building systems that empower young people and families for the long run.
The Mexico initiative follows another major contribution last November, when Wilson and Ciara donated $3 million to Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York. That donation helped make therapy rooms and family support programs more child-friendly, which strengthened their belief that healing environments can change how a child feels during treatment.
Wilson and Ciara are still using their platform to make real changes, from hospital wards in New York to coastal towns in Mexico. Their work makes a simple point: real change happens when you show compassion and take action every day.
