"Not a great one": Dak Prescott faces fresh disrespect despite praise for leadership as Caitlin Rance shuts down dating rumors

Dak Prescott once again found himself at the centre of an NFL debate this week. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback drew attention after analyst John Frascella questioned his leadership in a new quarterback ranking. At nearly the same time, Prescott’s name started trending online after he attended a Texas rodeo with Caitlin Rance, a former bridesmaid of his ex-fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos.

The current situation turned a routine offseason weekend into another round of headlines for Prescott. Yet while social media focused on his personal life, many Cowboys fans pushed back more strongly against the growing criticism of his leadership in the locker room.

The conversation started when NFL analyst John Frascella released his 2026 quarterback leadership rankings on X. Prescott ranked No. 17, behind several younger quarterbacks with limited NFL experience.

While explaining the ranking, Frascella wrote, "I think Dak is a good Leader, not a great one... Leadership is talking the talk AND walking the walk.”

The reaction came quickly because young names like Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and Bo Nix ranked ahead of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback despite Prescott entering his 11th NFL season.

The criticism also ignored how Prescott handled one of the NFL’s most delicate locker room situations in 2025. Dallas entered last season with two strong wide receivers in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Pickens especially carried baggage from his Pittsburgh Steelers days because of several behavioral issues tied to frustration on the field.


Instead, the pairing worked smoothly in Dallas, and Prescott received praise for keeping both stars locked in throughout the season.Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman spoke about Prescott’s leadership during an appearance on DLLS Cowboys earlier this offseason. “I think Dak handles it really well. Him being a veteran guy, and also his leadership skills come out in those situations because all receivers do want the ball... but I think Dak manages that exceptionally well,” Aikman said.


Aikman then added, "(Pickens and Lamb) by all accounts worked well together and then, of course, the play on the field spoke for itself. I think it was a good setup, and Dak, again, is a facilitator, and he's done a great job of it.”


Even with those endorsements, Prescott still faces questions that many around the Cowboys believe no longer match reality. Then came another viral moment away from football.

Dak Prescott also grabbed attention this weekend after photos surfaced of him attending a rodeo with Caitlin Rance. The situation quickly fueled dating rumors because Rance previously shared a close friendship with Sarah Jane Ramos before Prescott and Ramos reportedly called off their wedding plans in April 2026.


Rance addressed the speculation herself through an Instagram Story: “I think that this is the opportunity to make sure that everyone knows that I am single. I have a very active Raya profile. And we’re just here to have a good time,” Rance said while sitting with friends.


Rance and Prescott go back years to their Mississippi State days, where she played volleyball while Prescott starred for the Bulldogs football team. Her response quickly slowed the online rumors, but the latest attention once again showed how closely every part of Prescott’s life gets watched during the NFL offseason.
