NFL Insider Adam Schefter calls Jeremiyah Love a top 10 draft pick and acknowledges that the Notre Dame product may go to the Tennessee Titans. But it’s just that he doesn’t “sense” that right now because teams go back and forth on these things. Just because they’re not in a spot on March 23rd does not mean they won’t be in a different spot on April 23rd.
As of March 23rd, Schefter does not picture Love in Tennessee or even in John Harbaugh’s New York Giants. A month before the draft, the only place that makes sense to the insider is the Jayden Daniels-led Washington Commanders. Let’s understand how.
Commanders QB Jayden Daniels could pair with Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love
RB
Bijan Robinson went overall No. 8 to the Atlanta Falcons. RB Christian McCaffrey went overall No.
8 to the Carolina Panthers. New Orleans just spent [four-year, $47M contract] on RB Travis Etienne Jr., and Kansas City spent [three-year, $43.05M contract] on Kenneth Walker III.
Washington went out with Rachaad White [one-year, $2M contract] and added some depth at the running back position, but Schefter still thinks that if Jeremiyah Love was paired with Jayden Daniels, then that would make them a dynamic duo.
Plus, the Commanders have been in need at that spot. Schefter further said that Love could turn up in Tennessee [No. 4], New York [No. 5], or Cleveland [No. 6], but Washington [No. 7] would be worth watching.
Schefter spoke about Love on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday. It got Commanders fans talking and feeling excited about drafting a Notre Dame running back.
Love recorded over 2,882 rushing yards, 36 rushing touchdowns, 594 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns over three seasons playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
However, a day later Schefter spoke about Love, Commanders Wire’s Ivan Lambert reported that Schefter did not ‘report’ that Washington was drafting Jeremiyah Love in the first round as overall No. 7. He was just sharing his ‘opinion.’
Adam Schefter never spoke to Washington Commanders about Jeremiyah Love
On Tuesday, Schefter clarified his stance on Team 980 with host Kevin Sheehan. The insider said that, in his mind, Love will be a top ten pick. He does not believe Love will go No. 4. He is skeptical about No. 5 and doesn’t think Love will go No. 6.
The insider then clarified that he had never once spoken to Washington about Love. But he spoke to many people about the Notre Dame product and the kind of player he is.
Schefter also knows that Washington has been in the market for a running back. Now, there’s a great player [Love], and there’s a real chance that he may get past picks 4, 5, and 6. “If that great player gets past 4 [through 6], wouldn’t it make sense to take him at 7?” Schefter said.
Lambert concluded that Schefter was not “reporting,” but only providing his “opinion.” Would the Commanders draft Love? Remains to be seen...
