“Get him out of the league”: Kansas City Chiefs face mounting fan calls to cut ties with Rashee Rice amidst severe assault allegations

After a disappointing season that left them scrambling and introspecting, the Kansas City Chiefs are once again dealing with the current backlash centered on wide receiver Rashee Rice. Allegations shared on social media by his ex-girlfriend have sparked strong reactions from fans and renewed focus on the team’s handling of player conduct.

While no criminal charges have been filed so far, the situation has moved beyond social media posts. While the team released a statement related to the allegations without naming anyone, the unfolding situation places the Chiefs in a difficult position, as they may face possible legal ramifications for one of their star players amidst mounting pressure from supporters.

Allegations, fan reaction, and Rice’s recent history put Chiefs in a difficult spot

The allegations surfaced on January 7 when Dacoda Nichole Jones, who shares two children with Rice, posted photos online showing visible injuries. She claimed the abuse occurred over several years and claimed that the person responsible is the father of her children, while Rice was not named directly.


According to ESPN, Jones had not yet filed a police report in either Overland Park, Kansas, or Dallas. Kansas City released a brief statement confirming awareness of the allegations and revealed that the team is in contact with the NFL. The statement avoided naming Rice and did not indicate any immediate disciplinary action.

The league has also not announced a formal investigation regarding the matter. Public reaction, however, was swift. Many fans called for the team to cut ties with the receiver. One fan, @LocalLegendCoop, wrote on X, “If what is reported is true, he should be cut immediately and move on.” Another user, @Elliot_Dennis, added, “Cut Rashee Rice.”

A third post from @RotoSurgeon read, “Yeah, we’re done with Rashee Rice and his overrated ***. Get him out of the league.” Unfortunately, the backlash gets amplified by Rice’s recent off-field history, as he missed the first six games of the 2025 season after being suspended for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
