“Family will screw you”: fans worry as Jayden Daniels hands career to mom Regina Jackson after she officially becomes his agent

It is official: Regina Jackson is now the sole NFLPA-certified agent for Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels. While he was previously represented by agents at Agency 1 (including Ron Butler), She has cleared the final administrative hurdles to lead her son's representation into the most important years of his career.

She passed the rigorous NFLPA agent exam in late 2024. As Daniels enters his third season and nears eligibility for a massive contract extension, Jackson will be the one sitting across the table from the Commanders' front office.

To many fans, this move is the logical conclusion of a relationship that has been under the microscope since Daniels' college days.

In the 2024 Amazon docuseries The Money Game, Jackson famously vocalized her role as a shield against "predators" and "gold diggers."

"Thank God he got a mama like me, because it ain't happening," she said regarding women she felt were pursuing her son for his wealth.

Social media has repeatedly fueled "helicopter parent" narratives by highlighting his mother’s proximity during Jayden's personal moments.

Viral clips showed Jackson accompanying Jayden on a "date night," leading to memes about her "third-wheeling." Fans pointed out a moment at a USC game where Jackson sat directly between Jayden and star player JuJu Watkins, which fans interpreted as her acting as a physical buffer.

The announcement has many fans in a chokehold. Many feel that this is the right way to go about it, remembering classic Lamar and her mother duo.

With one fan commenting, "I remember when they made fun of Lamar Jackson's Mother being his agent, then he ended signing a 260 million dollar deal with 185 million guaranteed. Moms did that shit."
