“Stefon Diggs had an additional $6 million set to become fully guaranteed next week, Friday. The Patriots didn’t want to drag him along and informed him today they’re moving on, giving him a jump start. He’ll be released next Wednesday [March 11],” Pelissero wrote on X.

Diggs responded with a brief but emotional farewell. Posting on social media, the receiver thanked the organization and wrote, “We family forever. Until we meet again.”

In his lone season with New England, Diggs delivered strong numbers. He recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. The performance marked the seventh 1,000 yard season of his career and helped push the Patriots to the Super Bowl, where they eventually lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

Still, the timing of his release quickly fueled rumors online. Some fans began speculating about a possible connection to rapper Cardi B, who previously dated Diggs and has been seen attending Patriots games. Those rumors have no factual basis, and there is no evidence linking Cardi B to the team’s decision.



Last year, Cardi B was frequently spotted around Patriots events and games due to her relationship with Diggs. During one matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, she appeared in the stadium alongside Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
