The excitement surrounding the reunion of Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers quickly turned into disappointment as the Jets fell to the Steelers last week. Fans had high hopes when the Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Raiders for Adams, anticipating a dynamic duo. However, with Adams’ underwhelming debut and critiques from former Jets VP Andrew Brandt, the future seems uncertain. As both players acknowledge the need for improvement, the clock is ticking for the Jets to turn things around before it’s too late.

Amari Cooper trade MORE IMPACTFUL than Davante Adams trade? 👀 New York Jets are ROUGH! | #Greeny
Despite the much-anticipated reunion of Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers, the Jets couldn’t secure a victory against the Steelers last week. The Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Raiders for Adams, which could become a second-round pick if certain conditions are met. Unfortunately, Adams’ debut fell flat, with just three catches for 30 yards.
Former Jets VP Andrew Brandt criticized the trade, saying, “The
Amari Cooper trade for the Bills was heads and tails better than the Adams trade for the Jets.” While it’s early to judge, Adams was recovering from a hamstring injury, which may have impacted his performance.
Rodgers, who targeted Adams only nine times, acknowledged the need for improvement, stating,“I wouldn’t say it’s rust. We can continue to get on a better page. It’s just football. It doesn’t always work perfectly.” Adams expressed disappointment, noting a “There was a lack of energy and urgency out there, and it was apparent. I played on teams that have winning culture, and just basically I just took a moment to let them know I had reservations about speaking up too early and being vocal too early.” (via: EssentiallySports)
As Adams warned, “We don’t have time,” and the Jets may be running out of it, especially if results don’t improve soon. Meanwhile, Brandt’s concerns about the trade continue to loom, especially after Amari Cooper's impressive showing against the Titans last week.
Amari Cooper makes a strong impression while Davante Adams struggles in his debut
As the Browns' season continues to falter in Cleveland, they’ve opted to cash in on their star wide receiver, Amari Cooper. In a strategic move, they sealed a trade deal with the Bills, sending the 30-year-old Cooper along with a 2025 sixth-round pick to Buffalo. In return, the Browns secured a third-round pick for next season and a seventh-round pick in 2026. This trade could provide them with the opportunity to rebuild following the disastrous $230 million Deshaun Watson deal in 2022. Meanwhile, with Watson sidelined for the season due to an ACL injury, the Bills may have uncovered a hidden gem in Cooper.
In his debut for Buffalo, Cooper played just 18 snaps but made an impressive impact, recording four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. His performance earned him accolades from Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who targeted him five times on Sunday. Allen expressed his commitment to building chemistry with Cooper, saying “Trying to get as much time as possible with him. Talking about little nuances in our game plan. Things that I like to see and vice versa. Just trying to get on the same page. But again, his professionalism is through the room.”
Cooper's addition helped the Bills clinch their fifth win of the season, solidifying their position at the top of the AFC East. As the season unfolds, will Brandt’s insights on the Davante Adams and Amari Cooper trade deals hold true? Only time will tell as the race for the playoffs heats up next week.
