“I would like to know the names of the [----] who did not vote for him..they are too cowardly to identify themselves…” Jimmy Johnson wrote on his X. Jerry Jones’ former teammate also attached a photo of someone he was probably calling a coward: Bill Polian, an NFL analyst for ESPN who votes for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Johnson attached JPA [handle name: jasrifootball]’s X post, which included photos of Bill Belichick and Polian with the caption: “Absolutely Petty: Bill Polian was a huge influence in Bill Belichick not being a first ballot HOF’er, with an anonymous voter saying Polian told voters Belichick should have to wait a year as penance for Spygate and Deflategate. [four exploding head emojis].” However, Polian, the former Indianapolis Colts general manager, denies he was involved.

Bill Polian spoke to Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame about Bill Belichick

Verdarame reported on X that he spoke with Polian by phone and asked if he influenced Belichick’s being snubbed by the Hall of Fame. Polian replied, “That’s totally and categorically untrue. I voted for him.” However, Jason Owens of Yahoo Sports reported that Polian changed his story.ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham reported that an anonymous voter said Polian, the former Buffalo Bills general manager, denied telling fellow voters that the New England Patriots legendary coach should serve a one-year penance for Spygate, the 2007 cheating scandal that cost the Patriots a first-round draft pick.
However, in an interview with ESPN, Polian denied telling fellow voters that Belichick should serve a one-year penance for Spygate. He heard fellow voters float that idea and insisted he neither agreed nor disagreed with it.Polian said he voted for Patriots owner Robert Kraft. He could not remember with complete certainty if he voted for Belichick but was 95 percent sure he voted for the University of North Carolina head football coach and a player, most likely L.C. Greenwood [a former defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers].

Politics kept Bill Belichick out

The eight-time Super Bowl champion coach fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “Six Super Bowls isn’t enough?” Tom Brady’s favorite coach asked an associate. “What does a guy have to do?” Belichick said to another associate. An ESPN source said, “Politics kept him out. He doesn’t believe this is a reflection on his accomplishments.”Jimmy Johnson further posted on X: “PLEASE…If you did not vote for BB identify yourselves!!! Probably too much of a coward..Hide behind your SECRET BALLOT!!!” and “As a HOF coach I think Bill Belichick is the greatest of all time…yes he had a great QB but we all did..he won AFTER THE salary cap and free agency plus I Know how much he LOVES THE NFL and the game..I’m pissed...” Did Johnson take a subtle dig at NFL legend Tom Brady? Just a speculation.
