Antonio Brown’s controversial dig at Stefon Diggs surfaces as Patriots punch ticket to Super Bowl

The New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl, defeating the Broncos, with an exemplary contribution from QB Drake Maye. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs was in tears as he celebrated Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. It was not an easy game, but New England leaned on discipline and resilience to secure a 10-7 win, its first AFC title in seven years.

Shortly after the victory, the Patriots shared a locker room photo of Diggs on social media, which quickly became fuel for Antonio Brown’s reply. The former NFL wide receiver posted a harsh dig about Diggs’s tattoos on social media. While Brown’s comments drew significant attention online, the Patriots are now focused on the larger prize ahead.

Diggs lets his play and perspective do the talking as Patriots move forward

On the Patriots’ post featuring Diggs, Brown wrote on X, “****** of the Year Candidate. Leopard Tramp Stamp automatic qualifier,” The remark sparked backlash online, but the Patriots and Diggs are still overwhelmed by their latest victory, which took them to the Super Bowl, and the wide receiver does not seem to be focusing on negativity at the moment.


Diggs’ road back to elite form was not guaranteed, as his 2024 season ended abruptly with an ACL injury, leaving questions about his future. New England still believed in him, signing him to a three-year, $63.5 million deal and betting that his work ethic would outweigh the risk. Diggs led the team during the regular season with 85 catches and 1,013 receiving yards, becoming a reliable target for rookie quarterback Drake Maye and a stabilizing force in the offense.

Against Denver, the weather limited passing production, but Diggs did his job well. He hauled in five of six targets, moved the chains when needed, and helped control tempo in a defensive battle. Diggs credited the Patriots’ coaching staff and locker room culture for helping him regain confidence.

Diggs said, “I’m just so proud of this team. You don’t know how hard this year has been, battling the injury and coming back. Being around the right group of guys, great quarterback, great OC, great team, great head coach. It made it all worth it. All the hard work — we got one more.”

Diggs has also acknowledged that New England took a chance on him after the injury, and he has made it clear he wants to repay that trust. Now, he is set to play in the first Super Bowl of his career when the Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium.
