MUMBAI: Gujarat's overnight batsmen Bhargav Merai and Chirag Gandhi slammed hundreds and also frustrated Mumbai bowlers with a century stand for the fifth wicket before the four-day West Zone CK Nayudu under-22 league match ended in a draw on Monday.
Merai, overnight 64, made 113 in 229 balls with 13 fours while Gandhi, not out 18 on Sunday evening, remained unconquered on 105 off 275 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes in a team score of 486 for 8 in reply to the home team's first innings total of 526 for 9 declared.
The duo put on 164 runs to lift Gujarat from 271 for four to 435 before Merai was bowled by Gaurav Jathar who picked up 4 for 105 to emerge as Mumbai's leading wicket taker in the innings.
With even the first innings of the two teams not completed, Mumbai and Gujarat shared four points equally.
