Malvi steers Tata Sports Club to safety in Times Shield

MUMBAI: Nine wickets down for 155, and Tata Sports Club's hopes of taking the first innings lead seemed all but over. They still needed 40 runs to overhaul DY Patil Group 'A's 194, and their last pair was battling it out on the slow-turning DY Patil Stadium track in obsessively humid conditions.
Usman Malvi, TSC's frontline bowler and No. 10 batsman, decided to confront the crisis head-on.The ball soared into the stands five times, four times it just fell short of clearing the ropes, and by the time the host bowlers could realise what had hit them, Tatas had steered clear. Malvi's 60 was the top score in TSC's total of 224. At close on Day 2 of the second-round clash, DY Patil Group 'A' were 58 for 1 in their second essay.
