KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dismissed reports that coach Geoff Lawson is not interested in completing his term and asserted that the Australian would be back soon once his vacation is over.
Rubbishing reports that Lawson might be reconsidering his contract as coach of the Pakistan team and might not return to Lahore, a board official said the Australian had gone home to be with his ailing mother.
"He wants to spend maximum time with her and since Pakistan is not playing any cricket at the moment, we felt it would do no harm if he had a 10-day vacation," the official said.
He said speculations about Lawson were baseless as the former Australian player himself was keen to complete his contract.
"He came to Pakistan with a plan and he is committed to working with the national team for the duration of his contract," the official said.
Lawson also said that he had no intentions of quitting his job.
