FCI enter quarterfinal of Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament

NEW DELHI: With the help of fine all-round display by Amit Verma who scored 51 runs and took 3/39 Food Corp of India (FCI) entered the quarterfinal round of the 38th All India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament 2011 (dedicated to late Shri Mohinder Katyal) as they defeated Vidhya Jain Cricket Academy by 37 runs in pre-quarterfinal round match played at St Stephen's College Ground, Mori Gate, Delhi. FCI will now meet last year champion ONGC on June 2, 2011.

Vidhya Jain Cricket Academy skipper Naresh Jain won the toss and invited FCI to bat first. FCI scored 225 runs in 40 overs for 9 wkts with the help of fine batting by Rohit Saini 35 (4x b33), Amit Verma 51 (2x4 1x6 b61), Rajinder Bisht 34 (2x4 b35), and Amit Mishra 36 (3x4 3x6 b15).
Amit Mishra scored 27 runs in the last over of Vidhya Jain which was bowled by Naresh Jain. He hit 3 sixes and 2 fours in the last over.
At one state FCI lost four main batsman - Chetan Sharma 8, Ravi Chauhan 17, Ankur Jhulka 0, Dharminder Phanga 20 at 49 in 13.4 overs.
Left arm spiner Spersh Jain bowled for Vidhya Jain Cricket Academy and took 3 wickets for 40 runs. Vikas Mishra Naresh Jain and P Negi and Avinash Gangey took one wicket each.
In reply Vidhya Jain Cricket Academy, after a good start, failed to reach the target and were all out for 188 runs in 36.1 overs.
Sultan Ansari (36 4x4 3x6 b19), Sumit Rana (69 5x4 4x6 b64), Avinash Gangey (23 2x4 b52) and Amit Beiru scored (26 3x4 b29) helped their team to score 188 runs.
Left arm spiner Amit Verma bowled well and took 3/39, Bharat Awasthi, Meeraj Ahmed and Rajinder Bisht took 2 wickets each for FCI.
