Delonte West, a former NBA player, was arrested by Virginia police for the second time in two months. The 42-year-old was detained in Virginia last month on suspicion of robbing someone, according to TMZ Sports. Just one month after his last arrest, West was charged with robbery and violence in Belle Haven in December. According to the Fairfax County Police Department, someone reported that West had robbed and attacked them on December 21 at 6:36 a.m. He was apprehended after officers discovered him close by.

TMZ was informed by officials that they received a report from someone who claimed to have been robbed and beaten in Belle Haven's 5900 block of Richmond Highway. When they arrived, they identified West as the suspected offender. He was freed on a $1K bond shortly after his arrest. Although they could not specify how much money West had taken, the police did clarify that it was less than $50. Later, it seems that he just stole $23 from the alleged victim. As of now, his team has not made any public statements regarding the arrest.
West was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Centre after being charged with assault and robbery.
In the middle of his struggles with homelessness, addiction, and mental health concerns, the former NBA player has received some support from family members and his former colleagues. Mark Cuban had previously attempted to assist him. In 2024, he told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay:“I thought we had him turned around. We sent him down to Jayson’s place down in Florida. It’s like a farm, Jayson Williams.”

West has also been arrested before in recent months. He was taken into custody in June 2024 following a brief police pursuit during which the officers said that they had to give him Narcan. According to the officers, it was "for his own safety." He was also arrested in November after displaying indications of public intoxication. It took place at a crossroads in northern Virginia. After being brought to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Centre, he was eventually released. Furthermore, earlier this month, it was announced that West was celebrating 30 days sober in rehab, indicating that his life was on the right track. West was a celebrated NBA player. He attended Saint Joseph's University after graduating from Greenbelt's Eleanor Roosevelt High School.
