"Shout out to Diddy"- NBA player Sebastian Telfair opens up after prison release, shares candid words on Diddy in first interview

Because Sebastian Telfair's journey to NBA stardom ended where it began, it appears to have been a round trip. He was regarded as one of New York City's most promising basketball talents when he was a young Brooklyn point guard. According to TMZ Sports, the 40-year-old was freed from the Bureau of Prisons this week.

Then, when asked about Diddy, he said:

“Shout out to Diddy. My boy Diddy is in the spot too, man. I couldn't imagine. I talked about myself. I couldn't imagine how Diddy fell, but Diddy's holding it down. He told me he had to do it.. He's going to come out. Help him in what way if you don't mind. I mean, we all know Diddy business because we got to see everything…”

He continued:

“But, you know, Diddy was living a rock star life, so I'm glad that he's going to get the time to relax. And as my boys were saying the inside, they said it's some time for yourself. So, that's what you're doing right now…”

“Diddy's going to be in good spirits? Oh, yeah. Diddy's in good spirits. He's still Diddy…”

From NBA journeyman to legal troubles, Sebastian Telfair’s career has taken a dramatic turn

In addition to the Trail Blazers from 2004 to 2006, Telfair was a member of the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, and Oklahoma City Thunder. The former McDonald's All-American averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 assists per game throughout his NBA career.

However, Telfair's career collapsed in 2021 after he and eighteen other former NBA players were charged with attempting to defraud the league's health and welfare benefit program. The three-year conspiracy, which allegedly began in 2017, featured fake dentistry and medical invoices. He was placed on probation for three years after admitting to those charges in 2023.

However, in August 2025, he received a six-month prison sentence for failing to report to the U.S. Probation Office and accomplish the community work required by the court. He requested a pardon from President Donald Trump before beginning his sentence. The NBA player is back now.
