Nikola Jokic’s bizarre locker-room mix-up adds to Denver Nuggets’ Game 4 misery

Nikola Jokic is facing the Minnesota Timberwolves in a difficult postseason series. The Serbian center is not performing well on the court as the Denver Nuggets are down 3-1 and in danger of elimination. The three-time NBA MVP, a nominee this year, was involved in one of the most humorous moments of the playoffs thus far after losing Game 4 in Minnesota.

After the Nuggets' Game 4 first-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, star Nikola Jokic reportedly had to deal with a very nasty event. Nikola Jokic was unable to locate an essential article of clothing when he emerged from the shower, according to The Athletic. He looked up, down, to the left, to the right, confused, frustrated, and utterly incredulous. Minutes before he left, he searched everywhere before finding his underwear.

After the dust cleared from the Denver Nuggets' most recent and agonizing defeat of the season, 112-96 on Saturday, Nikola Jokicσ came out of the showers and made an astonishing discovery. The most important thing he needed to put on clothes was gone.

Jason Quick of The Athletic claims that while Jokic was taking a shower after the game in Minnesota, his underwear was taken. According to Quick, Jokic made an announcement that was somewhat frightened, partially terrified, and partially annoyed:

"Someone stole my underwear. He looked up, down, to the left, to the right, bewildered, frustrated and with utter, you've-gotta-be-kidding-me disbelief..”

Jokić quickly found his misplaced item, which was discreetly hung over the closet rod in his locker, but he and the other Nuggets left Minneapolis still trying to figure out how Minnesota had gained control of this series.

“We’ve put ourselves in a bad spot … we have to show some urgency,’’ Christian Braun said.




After the game, Jokic was already irritated because the Nuggets were down 3-1 in the series against Minnesota and were on the verge of elimination. Jokic appeared to be even more agitated after Minnesota's Jaden McDaniels made an unnecessary layup at the conclusion of Saturday's game, which led to the altercation at the conclusion of Game 4.

The Nuggets are having a heated moment right now. After Game 4, Jamal Murray left the locker room without speaking to the media, Jokić was not in the mood to add color to the late-game altercation that led to his and Randle's ejections, and the normally friendly David Adelman was abrupt when his team's competitiveness was questioned.

Adelman said of what he learned from those experiences:

“I think it’s just extreme honesty… It’s honest conversations … because that’s all you got, the people in (the locker room). There’s a million narratives out there, people write stories, there’s social media, there’s all the crap. But it’s about us in the room, bottom line.’’

After losing Game 4 112-96 to the Minnesota Timberwolves 3-1, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are in danger of being eliminated. The team is even more frustrated because Jokic has battled this series and was embroiled in a stressful late-game situation.

After the strange encounter in the locker room off the court, he thought his underwear had been taken and momentarily panicked, only to discover it in his locker. As the Nuggets attempt to bounce back, tensions are high among the squad, with Christian Braun urging haste, Jamal Murray avoiding the media, and coach David Adelman stressing internal accountability.
