NBA injury update: Detroit Pistons hit with major frontcourt blow as Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris sidelined

The frontcourt of the Detroit Pistons, who lead the Eastern Conference, has recently suffered a health setback. The Pistons will have to play without two members of their starting front court in a number of crucial games, including a rematch of last year's playoff series against the New York Knicks.

The organization stated on Saturday that Jalen Duren will be out for a minimum of one week, while Tobias Harris will be unavailable for at least two weeks. When they play the Cavaliers on Sunday, neither player will go to Cleveland. With an average of 17.9 points on 63% shooting and 10.6 rebounds per game, Duren is having an incredible season. On the other hand, Harris is averaging 13.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

Over the next few games, the Detroit Pistons will be without two starters and a crucial reserve. The Pistons confirmed on Saturday that standout center Jalen Duren (ankle) and veteran forward Tobias Harris (hip) will not travel with the team to play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday because of their issues.

Due to a hip injury, Harris had to leave their road victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. He will not play in their next home game on Friday against the Miami Heat. On the other hand, after spraining his ankle in the second quarter of Friday's game, Duren was declared out in the second half.




Before facing the New York Knicks on January 5, the Pistons will want to hold onto their two-game lead over the Cavaliers for first place in the conference. During a critical period of the season, the Pistons will be short-staffed.

They will meet the New York Knicks at home on Monday following Sunday's 2 p.m. game in Cleveland. They have dropped three of their last four games. The Los Angeles Clippers will visit on Saturday after the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

Injury woes pile up for Pistons as Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren, and Caris LeVert remain sidelined

LeVert's right knee irritation will keep him out of the team's Sunday, January 4 trip to Cleveland to play the Cavaliers. Harris sprained his hip on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers, while Duren sprained his ankle on New Year's Day against the Miami Heat. The management said on Friday of LeVert:

"He’s doing okay. It’s just something that we’ve been managing all year… We’ve tried to manage his practice time, his minutes, those types of things. But it was something that just flared up on him, and we’ll always be cautious of where our guys are and making sure they’re healthy first.”

Harris has already missed 11 games this season due to his hip injury and ankle sprains. LeVert has missed eight games with knee issues, and Duren has missed three games.
