NBA injury update: Anthony Edwards’ health status explored as Minnesota Timberwolves prepare to face Memphis Grizzlies
The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies, two Western Conference playoff contenders, will square off on Wednesday night. However, Anthony Edwards and Ja Morant are both listed as questionable for this game on the injury report.
The Timberwolves are currently 7.5-point favorites in the most recent DraftKings odds because Edwards is officially labelled as questionable for Wednesday's game. Due to a right foot injury that has kept him out of the last two games, Edwards' questionable tagline on Wednesday was attributed to injury maintenance.
Anthony Edwards, a star player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has missed the team's previous two games due to a foot ailment. However, it looks like he could make a comeback on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
It's still uncertain if Edwards will start for the Timberwolves on Wednesday night against the Grizzlies after missing the previous two games. The official announcement read:
“Edwards (foot) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies, Dane Moore of 'The Dane Moore NBA Podcast' reports…”
Despite Edwards' injury, the Timberwolves have won consecutive games and are currently 17-9 in the 2025–26 campaign, good for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. This season, Edwards has sustained a few injuries. He missed several games early in the season due to a hamstring problem.
In an interview with KFAN-FM 100.3 on Tuesday morning, head coach Chris Finch stated:
"It's definitely improving. He's still day to day... We have practice here this morning, and we'll see what he looks like coming in. But he was able to move around and get up some shots yesterday. We're headed in the right direction, but I'm not sure of an exact return time just yet."
Nevertheless, the All-NBA guard is shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 41.6 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 28.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Earlier this month, he ended a six-game run of games with 30 or more points, but in his most recent game, he scored 40. Edwards would be considered worthy for Minnesota if he returns on Wednesday.
Edwards' next chance will be on Friday night when the 24-2 Oklahoma City visit the Wolves in Minneapolis if he doesn't play on Wednesday. With two victories over the weekend, including one against the Golden State Warriors in Stephen Curry's comeback game, the Timberwolves have generally performed well in Edwards' absence.
In the Timberwolves' second consecutive game without star Anthony Edwards, Minnesota defeated the Sacramento Kings 117-103 on Sunday night. The schedule tightens with three of the next four games against the Thunder, Knicks, and Nuggets after hosting Memphis.
