NBA contract update: Utah Jazz give former top-10 pick Mo Bamba surprising 10-day lifeline

Before their game against the New Orleans Pelicans on February 26, the Utah Jazz are making a roster change. Shams Charania of ESPN reports that the Jazz are bringing in veteran center Mo Bamba. With a 10-day contract anticipated, Bamba will have just under two weeks to demonstrate his abilities once more.

For most of the 2025a–26 season, Bamba has been a member of the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz's G League affiliate. This season, he was also a member of the Toronto Raptors. He has been playing well for Utah's NBA G League club, averaging 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game.

Mo Bamba gets a fresh opportunity with the Jazz after a G League resurgence and a brief Toronto Raptors stint

On a 10-day contract, the Utah Jazz added a former lottery pick and even a top-10 pick to their roster. Mo Bamba has been a member of the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz's NBA G League team. In September 2025, before training camp, he signed a contract with the Jazz. Bamba did not make the final roster after completing the preseason. They formally joined the Stars on October 27.

Back in December 2025, Bamba was given a chance by the Toronto Raptors. He only made two appearances this season after signing a one-year contract with the team. Bamba played for a total of three minutes. Early in January 2026, the Raptors waived him.

Bamba has started half of the ten games he has participated in during the G League regular season. The veteran center has averaged 16.2 points per game while playing 26.6 minutes a game, shooting 54% from the field and 35% from three.

Bamba was waived after signing a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the Raptors on December 29. He played 3.0 minutes each game without scoring in his meager two appearances. After being chosen by the Orlando Magic with the sixth overall choice in the 2018 NBA Draft, Bamba has spent eight NBA seasons playing for six different teams.

In addition to his scoring, Bamba blocks two shots and averages a double-double with 11.8 rebounds per game.

Former top-10 pick Mo Bamba looks to revive his NBA career after he ran across multiple teams

Bamba was a high-end pick when he joined the NBA in 2018 from Texas. He had big expectations right away after the Orlando Magic drafted him sixth overall. Bamba wasn't an immediate starter, though.

As a reserve, the veteran averaged 6.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Bamba didn't start for the Magic until his fourth NBA season. At this point, he made 71 appearances and recorded what turned out to be his career year.

Bamba was a member of the Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022–2023 NBA season. Bamba signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers when he became a free agent in 2023. Bamba signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Clippers after completing his one season with the Sixers.

Before being traded to the Jazz, he played in just 28 games for the Clippers. Bamba signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans after the Jazz released him. He played for both the LA Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans during the previous season, averaging 4.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32 games.
