Legendary NBA star Michael Jordan has recently issued a statement after his fake endorsement of Donald Trump for the 2024 United States Presidential Election went viral. The statement has clarified that the basketball icon did not endorse any of the candidates.

The United States Presidential Election of 2024 on November 5 is on the horizon and several NBA stars have voiced the civic duty of the right to vote. However, recently a fake endorsement in a viral post alleged that the 61-year-old athlete has supported Trump. In a statement to The Independent, Jordan’s representatives have denied the claims. “There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Michael Jordan has made an endorsement in the presidential election,” the spokesperson said in the statement.
Jordan has been private about his lifestyle and opinion on political matters. However, a social media post on X on November 3 claimed that the legend has “become the latest to endorse Donald Trump for President.”
The false social media post surfaced following NBA star LeBron James’ endorsement of Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris. James openly supported Trump’s opponent on X, “What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!”
NBA has been one of the most influential platforms as several stars of the league have voiced the civic duty of the right to vote. Ahead of the election date, Houston Rockets’ Jeff Green stated that people need to vote to support the best interests of their communities. “We are doing this part, using our platform, trying to, you know, embrace people who are less fortunate and give them better opportunities,” Green said in the video that was shared on the official NBA page on X. “So you have to use your right to vote when come election days to figure out which best suits your expectation for whoever in the White House,” he added. Further, the star stated that the people of America need to do their part to change the future. Beyond that, coach Steve Kerr has also been vocal about the right to vote awareness.
