LeBron James added another chapter to his long NBA resume on Sunday night when the league unveiled its All-Star reserves. The announcement confirmed that the Los Angeles Lakers forward will appear in the midseason showcase for a 22nd straight year, an achievement no other player has reached. The reveal came during NBC’s pregame coverage, only weeks before the event tips off in Southern California.
This year’s selection was more suspenseful than usual. James was not named an All-Star starter for the Western Conference, ending a long run that dated back more than two decades. Even so, the coaches’ vote ensured his streak survived, placing him among the reserves and keeping one of the league’s most enduring records intact.
LeBron James secures his 22nd NBA All-Star appearance
LeBron James earned his place despite missing the opening stretch of the season with sciatica. After his return, the 41-year-old has remained a steady presence for the Lakers. He is producing 21.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game while shooting over 50 percent from the field.
James now holds 22 consecutive All-Star selections alongside the NBA record for total points scored in All-Star Games with 434.
Last season marked the first time he was selected but did not play due to injury. This year’s nod restores his presence on the roster, even as his role alongside Luka Doncic has evolved during the Lakers’ season.

Biggest All-Star snubs of 2026
Several early-season omissions were corrected in the latest list. However, notable names still missed out. Los Angeles Clippers stars Kawhi Leonard and James Harden were left off the final list despite strong individual production. The Clippers, who have climbed back into postseason contention after a difficult start, did not place a single player on the roster.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will be held on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The event will feature the league’s new U.S. versus The World format, with 24 players split into three teams competing across multiple games on the same night. The new format has already created astonishing hype.
