Kyrie Irving sends heartfelt message to Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks, led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, are currently occupying the ninth spot in the Western Conference with a record of 10-8. Unfortunately for Irving, he has had to carry a good part of the offense these last three games as Luka is currently out after suffering a sprain on his right wrist.

Despite missing Luka, Irving has done a fine job with the Mavericks’ offense. He is averaging 26 points and six assists over the team’s last three games. Even though he has been doing better in Luka’s absence, Irving still misses playing alongside him. Here’s what Kyrie had to say when asked about Doncic’s injury:

“We miss you, Hermano.”

“I mean, he spent a lot of time in Madrid and spent a lot of time just learning different languages. He speaks four languages, so I just wanted to make sure—not just because it was on national TV—but because that's my brother, man.”

Irving went on to explain that the team misses Luka, but his unavailability has been sort of a blessing for others. Some of the Mavs’ bench players have gotten more minutes and shots because Luka isn’t carrying a major load of the offense. Irving even called the team’s current state an exciting time, though he still wishes that they were at 100%.


With Luka, Irving, and Klay Thomspon, the Mavs have everything they need to make a deep run into the playoffs this season. However, the team needs to figure out their faults, as they are currently not even in the playoff picture. Dallas has not had a team this good in over a decade, so expectations are at an all-time high.

Through Kyrie’s words, it is clear to see that this team is a tightly knit unit. But, unless the team can be on the same wavelength during games, they could be in for a lot of heartbreak this season. Hopefully, the Mavs can hold out and put a few more wins on the board until Luka Doncic returns to the lineup.
