Speaking to TOI, principal of the special institute, Vandana Sharma, said, "Sports has changed their way of life. There have been drastic changes in their attitude. While Shrey was hyperactive, the other two were shy with poor social skills."
But sports, she added, had given them confidence. "A boost to self-esteem and major personality changes have come about in the three young men since they took up sports and started competing. They did India proud in the 2013 Special Olympics Asia Pacific games in Australia, where they all picked up medals. We are confident they will bring home medals this time, too," Sharma said.
Parents and coaches of the trio said they play different sports but share a common goal--to win despite odds."Shrey plays for others and not for himself. He is a motivator and his concern for others is touching," his mother Shalini said.
