MUMBAI: After retaining India's highest world-ranked player (World No. 49) Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, the only unbeaten player in the first edition of the

, Dabang Smashers TTC bagged Indian top women paddler Manika Batra in the player's draft held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Strengthening the squad, the Smashers' international talent includes star players like Yoshida Masaki (World No. 36), Sakura Mori (World No.19), Cedric Nuytinck (World No.38), Adriana Diaz (World No. 40) and young Indian players Archana Kamath and Sanish Ambekar.



Commenting on his retention, Gnanasekaran said, "I am delighted to be a part of Dabang Smashers TTC. We have a strong new team this season with experienced coaches. I am looking forward to give it my all once again for the Smashers, and lead the team to the title."

Smashers, who made it to the semi-finals in the first edition, will be coached by Sachin Shetty and international coach Andrei Filimon from Romania.

"It was a great day out at the player drafts for the second season of the CEAT Ultimate Table Tennis. I'm proud of the team we've managed to build here today, and I'm confident we can stake a claim for the title this season," Saumya Khaitan, CEO of Dabang Smashers added.
