Raul Rosas Jr. became the youngest fighter with 5 bouts in the Octagon at the age of 20. The record was previously held by Vitor Belfort when he became the youngest fighter to do the same at the age of 21. The record was shattered after
27 years. Rosas thanked the UFC CEO
Dana White for providing him with an opportunity to prove himself.
Raul Rosas Jr. becomes the youngest fighter to win 5 bouts at the UFC
Raul Rosas Jr. started his MMA career when he was just 17 years old at the UWC Mexico 30, where he secured a win against Eduardo Velazquez. He was signed to the UFC in 2022, when he secured a win at Dana White’s Contender Series against Mando Gutierrez. His only defeat until now was against Christian Rodriguez at UFC 287. The 5-win record was achieved by the young fighter after defeating individuals like Vince Morales, Aoriqilang, Ricky Turcios, Terrence Mitchell and Jay Perrin. Belfort has set the record after securing a win against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 17.5.
The crowd went crazy upon Rosas’s wrestling moves that helped him slam his 34-year-old opponent, Vincent Morales. While he dominated the majority of the first round, the second round too went in his favour when the young athlete secured an early takedown and dominated at the top position for the rest of it. Despite setting a record that would possibly stay unbroken for many years, the fighter was not much impressed by his performance and hopes to do more.
“I know it wasn’t my best performance, but I’m getting more experienced, wiser, and I’m just 20 years old.” The younger fighter stated in the post-fight Octagon interview, “Five victories inside the UFC Octagon, so you’ll see me involved throughout the years, baby.”
He even continued to thank the UFC president for giving him an opportunity to prove himself. “Dana, thank you for allowing me to come here to redeem myself in front of my Mexican people,” Rosas Jr said.
