“Victorious”: Patricio Pitbull makes candid admission on his career arc, family, inspiration, and UFC plans

Former Bellator ChampionPatricio Pitbull has made a name for himself within the MMA community outside the Octagon. Fought and won against fighters like Michael Chandler, AJ McKee, Adam Borics and more; Pitbull and his elder brother were inspired by the fights of Royce Gracie, the retired Brazilian MMA fighter. Pitbull has signed with the UFC on February 19, 2025 and is preparing to face Yair Rodriguez at UFC 314. In a recent interview with Megan Olivi, the fighter talks about his family, inspiration, plans in the lightweight division and more.
Despite hailing from a military background, both Patricio Pitbull and his elder brother, Patricky Pitbull, spent their childhood fighting in the streets. The duo got their inspiration to pursue a career in fighting after they witnessed legendary fighters like Royce Gracie. The encouragement they received from within the family also played a big role.

“He was a guy who looked fragile and beat up, much bigger, heavier guys. So Jiu-Jitsu caught our attention,” Pitbull talked about Gracie. He further added, “Since we already had this drive to fight in the streets, our parents, as they are military, conditioned us to go to the gym and compete instead of fighting”
The fighter seems to be in no mood to rest after his upcoming bout against Yair Rodriguez. Pitbull hopes and plans for a title bout immediately after UFC 314. While looking at his past records, the fighter believes that a win in his UFC debut match would immediately put him in a position for a championship bout.
“A fight with Yair Rodriguez puts me in a great place in the division. So, if my performance is really good, I believe I will fight for the title.” He further added, “He’s good, he’s very dynamic, but I’m better. I put pressure on him, put him down, and smash him. That’s what’s going to happen… They’re going to see the best featherweight on the planet in action, and the most complete featherweight on the planet.”
A confident Pitbull is all geared up to leave a mark inside the Octagon as well. When asked to describe his career up until his signing in the UFC, the fighter promptly replied, “Victorious. Very successful. I was able to achieve all the goals of my career until this exact moment. And I will do more.”

While the fight resume outside the Octagon is pretty remarkable for the future, it is only a matter of time before we get to see his career arc within the UFC. Having signed with the top platform in the MMA community, Pitbull plans to put on some of the greatest fights within the lightweight division.
