Duran has been a fan favorite in Boston, known for his speed and defense. Still, his bat struggled at times during the 2025 season. At the same time, Paredes, who played for the Astros in 2025, hit 19 home runs and had 50 runs batted in, making him a solid offensive player that the Red Sox might value.

Reports from late January 2026 say that the Red Sox, along with teams like the New York Yankees, are on a list of possible trade partners if the Nationals decide to move him.
