However, with Gavin represented by Scott Boras, whose clients usually go to free agency and receive higher payouts than extension agreements, there doesn't seem to be a real chance for Gavin to sign this extension.

Nonetheless, due to Gavin's impressive 2025 numbers (12-5; 3.06 ERA), the Guardians will likely continue negotiations, given that his arbitration dates start in 2027, mitigating their potential for cost increases later on.

Salary outlook points to growth for Williams in coming years

Williams' estimated salary for the 2026 season will be approximately $820,000 based on pre-arbitration guidelines after he received an estimated amount of $780,000 from 2025's salary.

According to projections, he may have a 3.59 earned run average over 29 games pitched this season, which would improve his potential to receive arbitration awards when he becomes eligible for arbitration next year at the end of this season. His estimated net worth before playing this season stands at approximately $2.6 million based on total career earnings to date.

As a result, if he can produce solid numbers this season, it is possible that he could receive more than $5 million in annual arbitration awards next season based on the numbers given by comparable pitchers who are going through similar transition periods between positions.
