Andre Pallante, the right-hander pitcher, has come out on top of his salary arbitration case. The arbitration was against the St. Louis Cardinals, winning which he secured himself a $2.1 million salary for the 2025 season. The decision made by the arbitrator's panel on Thursday meant Pallente would earn slightly more than the original team's $1.925 million offer. The 26-year-old player has come off as a strong player in the 2024 season and is expected to be the key part of the team’s starting rotation in the next season.
Andre Pallante Sinker Adjustments and Growth Strengthens Rotation Goal
The victory of Pallante in the arbitration case is a testament to his steady performance. Making 29 appearances, with 20 starts, he posted a 3.78 solid ERA while striking out his career-high 94 batters over his 121 1/3 innings. His ability to induce weak contact and maintain a strong ground-ball rate has made him an effective piece within the Cardinal’s pitching staff.
The biggest factor in the improvement of the player was the addition of the new sinker before the last season. The pitch made him an effective starter while solidifying his role within rotation heading to 2025. Though he is not known for high strikeout numbers, his strikeout rates remain at 18.5%. His ability and consistency to keep the hitters off balance have further made him a valuable asset.
Andre Pallante Joins St. Louis Cardinals After the Arbitration Win
With arbitration behind Pallante, he is set on beginning the 2025 season in the team’s rotation, joining Erick Fedde, Sonny Gray and Miles Mikolas. Earning $756,900, a salary more than double from the previous year, he is expected to build on the breakout year, furthering his plans of becoming the key contributor for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Pallante, this offseason, was 1 out of the 3 Cardinals players, alongside Brendan Donovan and Lars Nootbaar, to file for arbitration. While Nootbaar won the case, securing $2.95 million for 2025, Donovan lost. He will be making $2.85 million.
