Some months ago, both Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu suggested that perhaps it was time for both states to now increase their populations instead of curbing them.
Stalin quipped at a mass wedding function about “aiming for 16 children”, while Naidu seemed more serious about the matter. “At one time, I had called for observing family planning but I am now making an appeal to people to increase the population by producing more children,” he had said.
