Novak Djokovic recently shared a sweet family story after attending the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The 24-time Grand Slam champion went to the event with his family and spent time watching different winter sports from the stands. But what surprised him most was how much his daughter Tara enjoyed one particular sport. While speaking to Sky Sports before the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, Djokovic said Tara instantly fell in love with figure skating after watching it at the Winter Games. The Serbian tennis star joked that the experience has created a new family routine. Wherever they travel now, Tara wants to find an ice rink. Djokovic also said attending the Winter Olympics was a special moment for him personally. He has competed in the Summer Olympics many times, but this was the first time he experienced the Winter Games up close. Watching the athletes perform left a big impression on him.

During his conversation with Sky Sports, Novak Djokovic explained that the Winter Olympics trip became unforgettable for his family, especially for his daughter Tara. He said the atmosphere of the event and the skill of the athletes made the whole experience feel special.
But Tara’s reaction to figure skating stood out the most.

Djokovic shared with a smile: “The Winter Olympic Games, it’s the first time in my life to experience that. Obviously I’ve been part of the Summer Olympics, but the Winter Olympics never.”Then he spoke about Tara’s excitement after watching figure skating. “Figure skating my daughter is in love with it. Now we have to look for the ice rink anywhere we are.”Djokovic also spoke about the respect he felt for the athletes competing in winter sports. Watching them perform at such a high level impressed him deeply. “It’s fun honestly to see world-class athletes in winter sports and their crafts performing at a high level. It was just something so impressive to me. And as an athlete, I always have appreciation and respect for what they do.”Away from the Olympics, Djokovic is now preparing to return to competition at Indian Wells. The Serbian star has not played since the 2026 Australian Open, where he reached the final but lost to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.Djokovic will begin his campaign at the BNP Paribas Open as the third seed, where he is scheduled to face Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in his opening match. If results go his way, he could meet defending champion Jack Draper in the fourth round.The Serbian legend is still chasing history as well. After winning the Paris 2024 Olympic singles gold medal, Djokovic now continues his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title.
