Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera has recently opened up on a surprising story about Neymar’s extravagant birthday celebration during their time at the club. Neymar, who joined PSG in a world-record €222 million transfer in 2017, was known not just for his skills but also for his luxurious lifestyle off the field. Herrera’s revelation has now given fans a rare glimpse into one of the Brazilian star’s most talked-about private parties.

The incident took place in South America during the summer, where Neymar invited several teammates and close friends from Brazil. While the event was meant to be a grand celebration, Herrera explained that the arrangements made by Neymar created an unusual situation. Especially for players who attended the party with their partners. The story has since sparked curiosity about the culture inside elite football dressing rooms.

Neymar’s birthday party left PSG stars stunned

Ander Herrera explained on TYC Sports that Neymar went to great lengths to make sure everyone enjoyed the party. The celebration was split into two different sections. Players who came with their wives or partners stayed on one floor, while single players were directed to another level where the atmosphere was completely different.

He described the scene as chaotic and overwhelming. According to Herrera, there was loud music, a huge crowd, and constant movement throughout the venue. He recalled telling Neymar that the setup was difficult for those who attended with their partners, as the environment felt awkward.

Herrera further shared that some of the single PSG players were extremely excited after discovering what was happening downstairs. He said a few teammates rushed upstairs in disbelief, unable to hide their reactions after witnessing the party’s wild side. Their expressions showed pure shock and amazement at what Neymar had arranged for them.

He also mentioned that his wife stayed very close to him throughout the event. Lionel Messi was on the same boat with his partner. He said that they did not feel comfortable letting them move around freely, even for a short moment, because of the party’s atmosphere.

Neymar later left PSG in 2023 to join Al-Hilal before returning to Santos in 2025. Meanwhile, the Brazilian star is still working hard to regain full fitness and hopes to earn a place in Brazil national team squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 under Carlo Ancelotti.
