Kamaru Usman issues public apology after private Anthony Joshua FaceTime video leaks triggers major backlash

Kamaru Usman, a Nigerian-American mixed martial artist, expressed a heartfelt apology after a private video call with Anthony Joshua was leaked to the media. Usman expressed sincere regret over the event, which has caused an uproar in both boxing and MMA. Fans' anger has ensued over the leak due to the fact that it happened shortly after Joshua survived a serious car accident in Nigeria only hours before.

In the video, Anthony Joshua and Kamaru Usman can be seen speaking shortly after the crash from a treatment area. Even though Joshua sustained minimal injury from the crash, many were outraged with Usman's decision to release the video due to the emotional weight associated with it.




On the day of the accident, Anthony Joshua had been travelling in a Lexus SUV, which collided with the rear of an uncontrolled vehicle outside of Lagos. The crash resulted in the death of two of Anthony Joshua's closest friends and teammates, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, while Joshua injured himself and needed medical assistance.

In support of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodel, many have expressed condolences through social media. Anthony Joshua has attended both funerals and vowed to help provide for his fallen comrades' families throughout their lifetimes. This commitment has created a wave of support for Joshua.

Kamaru Usman accepts blame for leaked Anthony Joshua call

Kamaru Usman took accountability for the video taken off of Instagram Live showing him with Anthony Joshua in the clip and told the truth about it. He stated he had been filming all day in preparation for his MMA event and failed to mention that the conversation between him and Anthony was not being filmed until the end of the day when all the content was edited together and released on Instagram.

Kamaru Usman asked for Anthony's forgiveness, as presenting the video and getting responses from fans was a heartbreaking experience for him. He quoted ""I realized after and asked about it. I take full responsibility for not properly watching the video that was released and keeping my private conversation with my brother AJ private. SMH. Big L on me. That’s not something I would ever do to a friend/brother."

On the other hand, Anthony Joshua did not respond directly to the situation. He said "thank you" to all his supporters for the love and compassion expressed toward him and reminded them of the importance of supporting their families following the passing of their family members, who both died tragically.

Anthony Joshua's future is on hold as Eddie Hearn urges patience

Anthony Joshua’s future in boxing has been the subject of much speculation recently. Although the interest continues to rise in Anthony Joshua's future, Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Anthony Joshua, advises caution and patience on the part of people interested in Anthony's career. Eddie Hearn said that it is not appropriate to talk to or meet with Anthony Joshua during the time of his mourning for the loss of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.

Eddie Hearn has stated that Anthony Joshua should be allowed privacy and time to heal emotionally and physically. So, for now, he will continue to be away from public view, as the priority is to focus on his healing process and to pay tribute to the lives lost.
