YouTube star IShowSpeed’s U.S. streaming tour has once again drawn massive attention The 20-year-old streamer had to get a warning from the police in Dallas, Texas, after a largely midnight gathering of fans ended in utter chaos.
Speed's Nationwide Tour Gains Momentum
Since late August, IShowSpeed has been working the country while maintaining a 24/7 live feed, meeting thousands of adorers along the way. Each leg has welcomed huge crowds of enthusiasts eager to lay their eyes on the internet sensation.
There have been some challenges with the frenzy among the fans. Earlier this month, Speed got permanently barred from a mall in Houston because a massive turnout disturbed the place. The Dallas show created similar challenges, now involving local authorities.
Police Confrontation in Dallas
An overnight arcade in Dallas proved to be Speed's catch of the crowd, falling prey to a mountain-sized mob of fans. At one point, much to the delight of the thousands who had gathered, he climbed onto the roof of a rented vehicle for his trademark "Sui" celebration. This was when Dallas Police started to rear-end him as he and his security were leaving.
"I need to talk to you, man," a cop said to Speed. “We’re about to file a rioting charge on him if this keeps going on.”
Speed's team assured the police that the event was by invitation only and that they were already leaving, but still, the officers stopped their shoot set on the Dallas skyline and lingered around.
Fans React to the Chaos
Even with the police trailing the group, fans laid siege to the area-some revving their car engines in circles while others screamed at Speed's appearance-and social media exploded:
"Speed pulled thousands in Dallas just by showing up, and now cops talking arrest. The energy around him is unreal!" one fan said. Another one said: "Bro out here causing chaos just by existing. Dallas really said we can’t handle this energy." A third one laughed: "Bro shut down the city."
Though police eventually left Speed and his team alone, what it really points out is the mounting friction between the streamer's viral popularity and public safety. With the gig still having a number of stops remaining on his nationwide tour, the streamer is surely going to have to start keeping a wary eye on the chaos his fans create, along with security and local ordinances, to keep itself in check.
For now, the Dallas escapade of IShowSpeed proves only one thing, chaos and thousands of fans will trail anywhere he goes.
