From Jake Paul and MVP to Francis Ngannou and Ryan Garcia, boxing world sends prayers to Anthony Joshua after tragic road accident
Anthony Joshua had just returned to the spotlight after defeating Jake Paul in the recent bout. The win earned him praise from fans and brought huge excitement around his career. But happiness quickly turned into heartbreak. Just ten days later, tragedy struck in Nigeria. Joshua was involved in a serious road accident while traveling with two close friends and team members. What began as a vacation after his fight ended in deep loss and shock for the boxing world.
The crash happened on the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Joshua was driving a Lexus Jeep alongside Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. The vehicle banged into a stationary red commercial truck. Joshua survived with injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Sadly, both Ghami and Ayodele lost their lives. Joshua remains under medical observation and is said to be in stable condition.
The accident has deeply affected the global boxing community. Messages of support and prayers began pouring in soon after the news spread on social media.
Jake Paul was among the first to react publicly. He shared that life matters far more than boxing and said his thoughts and prayers were with Joshua, the families of those who died, and everyone affected by the tragic event. This message carried extra weight, as Joshua had defeated Paul in their recent fight.
Paul’s promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions, also shared a statement. They said their entire team was thinking about everyone impacted by the accident in Nigeria. They offered prayers and condolences to the victims and their loved ones during this painful time.
Ryan Garcia also reacted to the accident. He took to his account on X and shared prayers for everyone involved. He wished peace and reminded people to tell their loved ones how much they care, as life can change without warning.
Amir J Tyson, the son of boxing legend Mike Tyson, shared a short but powerful message. He reflected on how unpredictable life is and said nothing is guaranteed. He added that he would never wish such pain on anyone.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou also sent his support. He wished Joshua a quick recovery and shared heartfelt condolences for those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
