NEW DELHI: Indian golf star Jeev Milkha Singh is just a few thousand dollars short of qualifying for the PGA Tour's Special Temporary Membership (STM).
The membership becomes available to non-PGA Tour members once they have earned more in a year than the 150th-placed player on the money list the previous year.
Last year, that player was former British Open champion Todd Hamilton, who banked $537,958.

According to reports, Jeev, who has earned $477,120 on the Tour so far, and needs $60,838 more, will accept STM if he qualifies.
He is currently playing in the Verizon Heritage at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and if he manages a two-way tied-22 at least, he will receive the membership.
Once golfers accept STM, they can begin accruing official earnings and FedExCup points. Sponsors' exemptions are limited to 12 events as a non-member but those eligible are allowed unlimited sponsors' exemptions for the remainder of the year.
England's Ross Fisher has applied and been accepted as he has amassed $588,575 but Irish teenager Rory McIlroy, having already earned $526,093, has declined the offer from the PGA Tour.
