Formula 1 prospect Andrea Kimi Antonelli was involved in a scary car accident over the weekend when his high-performance Mercedes AMG GT crashed into a roadside barrier close to his home in San Marino. Images from the scene revealed heavy damage to the car's front end and passenger side from where it hit a guardrail. Fortunately, Antonelli appears to have sustained no injury thanks to the modern safety systems and crashworthiness of the vehicle. Emergency services attended but only as a precaution, and the driver did not need any medical treatment, according to reports. Mercedes then issued a brief statement reassuring the safety and well-being of their young driver.

It said authorities were investigating road conditions, nearby vehicles, and speed as part of what caused the crash. The current stage carries no implication of driving dangerously, and is considered an unfortunate accident and not a serious offence.
