Red Bull has gone white once again, just in time for Japan’s cherry blossom season. This occasion is even more special at the Japanese Grand Prix, as Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda will make his Red Bull debut in the iconic white car on his home turf, the Suzuka Circuit. It’s worth noting that the last time Red Bull raced in white in 2021, it marked a stroke of luck for the team, with two podium finishes at the Turkish Grand Prix.
How Red Bull’s white livery proved lucky at Turkish Grand Prix in 2021
At the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished second, earning 18 points, while Sergio Perez secured third with 15 points. Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas claimed the victory at Istanbul Park, earning 26 points.
On Wednesday, the official Formula 1 X page shared a post looking back at Red Bull’s previous white livery, featuring photos from the 2021 season and the caption: “The last time Red Bull went white. A double podium at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.” Fans quickly reacted to the post, calling the white livery “a good omen.”
Many F1 enthusiasts expressed excitement for what’s to come at the Japanese Grand Prix. One X user tweeted, “That iconic white livery is straight fire.” Another wondered, “That livery was pure class—and the results spoke for themselves. Do you think we’ll see a whiteout repeat in Suzuka?” A different user added, “Red Bull has a bigger chance now. There are four Red Bull-owned cars at the Japanese Grand Prix.” Another comment posed the question, “Does this mean Yuki will make it to the podium this weekend?”
Some fans, however, pointed out that Red Bull’s strength lay in the pairing of Verstappen and Perez, not Verstappen and debutant Tsunoda.
“Ain’t going to happen this weekend, that’s for sure! Enjoy the memories!” wrote one X user.
Red Bull is ready for Japanese Grand Prix
The new white livery, featuring the red bull emblem, serves as “a tribute to Honda's success in F1 and the final year of what has been a thoroughly enjoyable partnership." Honda will soon collaborate with Aston Martin for the new technical era in 2026.
