Formula E drivers traveled to Mexico City in early January for Round 2 of the season. Among them was DS Penske driver Maximilian Günther, who finished 12th at the E-Prix. Gunther has now shared a tour of his driver room from the Mexico City E-Prix, leaving Formula E fans surprised by how compact the space was. The driver offered a look inside his small enclosure, where he sat comfortably with his race gear neatly arranged alongside water and refreshments.

Maximilian Gunther shared the room tour video on Instagram, writing, “Want a sneak peek at my driver room from the Mexico City E-Prix?” The video opens with Gunther, seated on a chair in a team T-shirt and jeans, saying, “Welcome to my driver area here. I’m happy to show you around what I’ve got in this little space.”
He then showed his race suits hanging on a temporary wall on one side. On the other side was a shelf holding his fireproof underwear, including tops and bottoms, radio kits with custom-molded earplugs, race shoes, gloves, several pairs of socks, and his racing helmets. Water packs, drinks, supplements, caps, and a pair of sunglasses were also placed nearby. Gunther noted that it was everything a driver needed on race day.
Fans were quick to react in the comments. One wrote, “Very small space,” while another commented, “Very enclosed.” Others described it as “very cozy” and “cute.” One fan added, “This felt like those old YouTube room tours.”
Some fans were particularly interested in the racing gear on display. One asked about a cap, while another commented, “What happens to your race boots when they get worn out? I really want to paint a pair of worn racing boots!!!”
What lies ahead for Maximilian Gunther
Maximilian Gunther will next head to the United States for the Miami E-Prix, scheduled for January 31. The DS Penske driver now has a new teammate in Taylor Barnard, who joined the team following NEOM McLaren’s departure from Formula E.
Gunther is yet to secure a podium finish in Miami and will be aiming to score points, or even claim his first podium, when Round 3 gets underway.
